El Capitan (The Captain), near Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Utah
We woke up pretty early in the morning; I'm guessing well before sunrise. But, the clouds were all over the sky and no trace of the Sun. So, we decided to use our complimentary breakfast coupons to stuff ourselves up in preparation for a long day. The Sun was coming up in splits by the time we checked out and took to the road towards the Monument Valley.
We stopped by on the road to Monument valley to get a couple of photographs of the El Capitan and other peaks near the entrance to Moument Valley on Rt. 163 from Kayenta. Lalitha named one of those peaks the 'Mother Mary' monument. We got some more silhoutte photos before finally entering the Monument Valley. The classic view from the visitor's center blews our socks off, even though I had seen it numerous times before.
