John Ford's Point - Monument Valley Utah Photos and Travelogue

Since this is an Indian Reservation, it could not be named a National Park, and is operated solely by the Navajo Indians. Visitors are not allowed to veer off the established trails nor are allowed to hike or camp without permits, and are liable to be ticketed by the Navajo Nation guardsmen and prosecuted under the Navajo Tribal Code for any such offences.
We allowed ourselves a comfortable 2-3 hours to cover the 17 mile drive stopping by at various stops like the John Ford's point, Artist's point, the Norhtern Window, the Thumb, etc.


John Ford's point, named after the filmmaker who used this area extensively as a backdrop for a lot of his Western hits.
